Update on strategic integration of Bottle Green

Latest news • 27/08/2015

Following news of Kingsland Drinks’ acquisition of Bottle Green from DCC Food & Beverage UK in April 2015, Kingsland Drinks have released further information regarding its plans for the future.

An in-depth strategic review has resulted in a decision to integrate the two businesses and to trade as Kingsland Drinks. The company will operate out of Irlam, near Manchester, from which Kingsland Drinks has traded in wines and spirits since 1955.

Leeds based Bottle Green, successfully serviced the UK wine category for over 20 years, introducing innovative products and partnerships from world-wide top class producers to the UK market. The decision to operate as a single integrated company, out of one location, has been made in order to give staff, suppliers and customers a single point of focus and contact.

Managing Director of Kingsland Drinks, Andy Sagar, says:   “The integration of Bottle Green represents a key stage in Kingsland Drinks journey to be the leading premier independent supplier of wines and spirits to the UK, specialising in providing a total category solution.  This integration of Bottle Green brings together Kingsland’s existing expertise in manufacturing, supply chain, bulk sourcing and marketing with Bottle Green’s sales, producer relations and wine making know-how”.

“Whilst we had originally intended to grow this aspect of the business organically, the opportunity to purchase Bottle Green allows Kingsland Drinks to realise our goal far quicker than expected.  The newly combined business will offer the breadth of service necessary to survive in an increasingly challenging industry”.

“Our enhanced team will provide continuity for producer partners and customers alike and I am pleased that Jon Eagle, Nick Butler and Adam Marshall will be joining the Executive of the combined business”.

In order to minimise disruption to customers and producers during the transition phase, we will continue to operate with all administrative processes remaining both within Leeds and Irlam in line with the ‘business as usual’ headline.

In order to focus on the single minded objective of adding value to Kingsland customers through a complete category solution, significant investment has also been made over the last 12 months: through the installation of a new carbonation line; reopening of its British Winery; investment in consumer insight, WinePRO – well received by key existing and new customers; and, the creation of Kingsland’s own branded wine offerings, which will sit alongside that of its key client’s portfolios.
